International Dating: The Reality And Some of The Obstacles

There are numerous reasons why it’s going to take a long time for you to hit your stride in foreign countries. Some of these include:

• How well you know the language
• How fast you find the best night spots or if you know where they are
• How fast you find the best day spots or if you know where they are
• How fast you get use to the culture
• Overcoming stereotypes of you as a foreigner

These main barriers are the usual road blocks abroad. The most important one being language. But all of this doesn’t mean that dating environments abroad can’t be better then your local dating environment. Sometimes it just takes time to hit your stride.

Although language can be barrier, as long as you obtain some conversational fluency, it shouldn’t be much of a problem.

What you need to do is focus on the obstacles and overcoming them…

Overcoming stereotypes:
One of the main stereotypes you’ll encounter abroad, especially in Latin America is the fact that people will think you’re a rich American who’s only there to bang prostitutes. I’ve seen this all over Latin America. A lot of these stigmas come from past Americans and past foreigners who have come to Latin American countries for just that. These guys have given the rest of the “gringos” a bad name, but it is something that will change with time. The only way to get by this stereotype is to stay away from the “prepagos” or working girls, and in some cases from the places where these women frequent.

Overcoming style differences:
If you have an eccentric style like that of a rocker in the U.S.A you might have a tough time fitting in unless you find your perfect niche inside the city you’re visiting. American rock isn’t that popular throughout most of Latin America. In some cities the music might be popular but the style is pretty much non existent. The same can be said for a hip-hop type of style with fitted caps etc. You might find certain venues that cater to the music in certain large Latin America cities but in general these styles won’t help in Latin America. In these cases I would suggest you try to fit in more by changing your style a bit, to something you feel more comfortable with, but something that is more common throughout Latin America.

Finding The Best Night Spots:
In large cities the size of Buenos Aires or Bogota or even Medellin sometimes it’s taken me up to one month to find the really good night spots. I’m talking about the spots where you might be the only foreigner in the place and places that are loaded with single women. Also, these same places might be the best places to approach women who don’t speak any English.

It takes a lot of trial and error, asking around, checking different places out on different nights. In the first week you’ll find the most well know, places. Usually people will point you the priciest most well known place in the city, for example if you’re in Medellin and get in a taxi or ask anyone, they’ll tell you to go to Mangos or El Poblado, but I’ve found they’re not the best place to meet single women in Medellin.

If you’re lucky you’ll find the best places on the first week, but I usually don’t expect to find them until week 3 or 4, sometimes longer. And you’ll only find these places by being persistent and going out often.

When To Dress Up And When Not To Dress Up

You’ve probably read me blog posts on safety and dressing in Latin America.

This should give you an overall view of how to dress but there’s a bit more to it then what I’ve mentioned in the past. The thing is that it’s difficult to condense everything into two small blog posts. And if you know me a bit already, you know that I’d rather fall short on the side of safety. That’s why I usually recommend people in general not to dress to flashy.

But dressing down isn’t always good, even though it might be safe. It all depends on where your going. I’ll lay out some examples based on Colombian experience so far this year:

• Cartagena Old City: Dress Up
• Medellin 33: Dess Normal
• Medellin El Poblado: Dress Normal or Dress Up
• Medellin Mangos: Dress Up
• Barranquilla 82 & North: Dress Normal or Dress Up
• Anywhere in Colombia stratus 4: Dress Normal
• Anywhere in Colombia stratus 2-3: Dress Down

In the above examples I’ve layed out three ways of dressing:

• Dressing Up: Some Jewlery, Nice watch, Chain, Rings, Button Down Collard Shirt, Nice Shoes (Depending on the city and locale a suite)
• Dressing Normal: Maybe No Jewlery (Depends), Not too many accessories, Possible Button Down or Brand Name T-Shirt, Shoes or Sneakers
• Dress Down: No Jewlerly, Sneakers, Normal T-Shirt

If it’s your first time someplace and you’re not sure where you’re going or how the people dress there, I recommend you error on the side of safety. If anything you can dress down go back to your place and dress up and come back to the place.

In general my safety and dressing tips recommend guys to dress down so they won’t stand out and so that their safety will be the most important outcome. However, as you spend more time in Latin America and as you get more comfortable with your surroundings and get a better feeling of how safe the places you frequent are, you can elect to dress up a bit more.

Whenever you do this, do so incrementally. Don’t go all decked-out on the first night. Upgrade little by little. Dressing up definitely does help with the higher class ladies, and it’s a luxury worth taking part in, especially in foreign countries, just remember to always start on the safe side and ease into it.

Travelers: How And Why To Protect Your Assets Against Inflation

You might be wondering why I’m writing a blog post on how to protect your assets against inflation? A couple of months ago I wrote a blog post about Why American Men Should Be Worried About Inflation And The Dollar. This is the follow up post and I think it’s a very important one for certain guys who want to keep traveling in the future.

This particular blog post is directed towards American and English men. Both currencies and economies are in trouble and both the Pound Sterling and the Dollar will experience massive inflation in the short, medium, and long term.

For all of you who live in these two countries, inflation means a loss of your purchasing power which means many things get more expensive, including travel costs. As your purchasing power decreases against other currencies you’re once might dollar or pound will no longer go such a long way in foreign countries.

So the bad news is that your currencies are going down the toilet, but you don’t have to let your assets and savings be eroded away through inflation. One of the best investment options available to you right now is to invest abroad in countries which have better fundamental economies. You want to base your current investment strategy on owning real assets such as commodities, utilities, real estate (in certain places), precious metals, etc. You also want to own these stocks, bonds, and assets in countries that own a lot of commodities, as well as countries that have sounder economic policies then the United States and UK. Some of these countries include Canada, Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, China to name a few.

If you listen to economists that predicted this current recession: Guys like Peter Schiff, and Jim Rogers, you know that the world is heading for inflationary times. Some countries like the United States are headed there in much worse shape and will get hit much harder. However, by investing in commodities and real assets abroad you guard yourself against inflation and you position yourself to prosper from inflation.

If you have your money safely stashed away in foreign currencies, stocks and bonds. You will at least preserve the current purchasing power of your savings and assets, and you may very well increase it. This means that you’ll be in a very good position to keep the same standard of living, and keep traveling, while many of your other country men will unfortunately be wiped out through inflation.

How To Dress When Traveling Through Latin America

Throughout my book The Global Dating Revolution, I give a lot of tips and advice for those of you that will take the leap into International Dating and actually travel abroad to see what the women are like in other countries.

On Page 250 of The Global Dating Revolution I give the following tips on dressing while your traveling through Latin America. I feel most of these will be applicable to Eastern Europe and South East Asia as well:

Don’t dress like a tourist, with shorts, loud Hawaiian shirt and camera around your neck. Dress casual or business casual with a nice pair of khakis, jeans and either a nice button down shirt or nice t-shirt. Dress for your body type. If you’re very thin, you might want to wear more then one layer, and don’t wear clothes that are too loose fitting. Why Time Can Be Your Biggest Allie With Foreign Women

When your traveling abroad and you get to a new country or city it takes a little while to adapt to your surroundings. Some people adapt in a week, but others take longer. It also takes time to build up a social circle, make new friends and learn your way around. For all of these reasons I always recommend at least three weeks in one location.

One perfect example is getting to know the night life. Usually when you get to a new city you won’t know what the best hang outs, bars, and clubs are. Most cities have places that are THE places to go on certain nights. Even if you ask the locals, taxis, or people you meet on the streets, the reality is that this information is usually hit or miss. Some people will send you the places THEY like, but they may not necessarily be the best places to meet single foreign women.

This is where persistence and time comes in. Make a note of where you go on what night, and how good the environment is. Ask the people that work there what the best nights are, ask the people inside the bar the same thing, and make a note. As time goes on you’ll be able to find the best spots on each night, and you’ll be able to find the best weekend hang outs. If you’re lucky you’ll find these spots in the first week, but sometimes it takes up to three or four weeks on constantly going out to start to find the really good places to meet single women.

Don’t move around too much. Stay in one place, get to know it, make friends, and be persistent. Sometimes things don’t start getting REALLY good until the last week. Although I recommend at least a three week stay in one place, if you can swing more then three weeks, then by all means do so.

Ten Ways To Avoid Stomach Problems And Diarrhea When Traveling

When you’re traveling abroad if your not careful you could end up with stomach problems, travelers diarrhea, a stomach virus or worse. In order to avoid these common problem it’s important to know where to eat, what to eat, and what to drink. Here are the best tips you’ll find so you can keep your stomach safe and enjoy your trip without running into stomach problems:

#1. Eat at places that have a lot of clientele. Always eat at the busiest restaurant or place you can find. A busy restaurant is a good sign of good food and satisfied clients. The fact that other people are eating there in great numbers says something great about the food, and service. But there’s more to this approach then just this. A busy restaurant also means that the food is fresh. Busy places are making money, and they don’t need to save yesterday’s unsold food for tomorrows clients, as some of the emptier places may do. Always eat at the busiest locale, and if the place is empty definitely avoid it.

#2. Make sure your food is cooked properly. Get everything well done. You might like your steak rare, but why take the chance? Make sure you get all your meats cooked well. Try avoiding uncooked foods. Extra caution should be taken with shellfish and some sea foods.

#3. Wash your hands. Make sure you wash your hands every time before you eat. It might be a good idea for you to carry around a small pocket size hand sanitizer and keep it in your pocket.

#4. Don’t eat already peeled fruits and vegetables. This one is self explanatory.

#5. Drink bottled water, and don’t drink tap water. In some countries you can drink the tap water, but make sure you boil it before you drink it.

#6. Watch out for the ice. Ice is usually made from the tap water so if you want a cold drink put your drink on ice, but don’t put ice in your drink.

#7. Don’t eat at street vendors and food carts. I generally advise not to eat at vendors who stand out in the middle of the streets. Sometimes you might be starving after a night out and you might want to try some shish kabobs from a local vendor, I’ve done this myself, but I make sure I don’t do it often, and that I get my food very well done. Also remember tip #1. If you’re going to eat at one of these street vendors, eat the busiest one.

#8. If it tastes funny, don’t eat it. When your traveling food will taste different, but sometimes there’s something your taste buds tell you about the food. When in doubt listen to your gut. If it tastes too funny, trust your gut and don’t eat it. If you want to be nice about it, just tell the staff to wrap it up to go, and dump the food when you leave.

#9. Boost your immune system. Make sure your helping your immune system by taking a multi-vitamin, vitamin E, vitamin C, and Zinc. Regular exercise and adequate sleep also helps boost your immune system.

#10. Avoid eating when drunk. If you’ve had a lot to drink try to avoid eating. When you’re drunk sometimes you might not care where you eat, or what you eat, you’ll probably also forget tips 1-9 and you might not even be able to tell if the food is good or not. This is a sure fire way to stumble your way into some food that can get you sick.

What Happens If You Get A Foreign Woman Pregnant?

I stumbled onto a question on yahoo answers from someone who may have gotten a foreign woman pregnant and now wants to know what could possibly be consequences immigration wise and with child support.

The question got me thinking about a few important aspects of traveling abroad that need to addressed. Here goes:

#1. American men, and men from other similar countries like Canada, Australia, and the UK have astounding reputations with foreign women. Women look up to us as the cream of the crop when it comes to men. We’re seen in general as highly educated, considerate, and ambitious among other things. Foreign women look at us much in the same way many of us look at foreign women as the best this world has to offer. Let’s not ruin our excellent reputation by acting without discretion or integrity when we travel abroad.

#2. Let’s not give the feminist movement anymore excuses to put barriers in our way to meeting foreign women. There are people in this world who would love nothing more then to ban 100% all your interaction with foreign women. Acting irresponsibly while traveling abroad, especially in your interactions with foreign women will only add fuel to the fire, and give these people more amo to put up more barriers. The International Marriage Broker Regulation Act is just one small example of the draconian measures that could be placed on your freedom to take part in international dating and meeting foreign women.

#3. Don’t take it out on these sweet foreign women. I know some of us might have a bit of resentment or bitterness towards women in general because I know a lot of us have gone through some tough times with our local women. Nasty divorces, custody battles, child support, bad breakups, alimony, cheating girlfriends, I know, I know. When you travel abroad make sure you don’t take it out on the foreign ladies because they seriously don’t deserve it.

#4. Use protection. I shouldn’t have to say this but some guys might need to hear it. It’s not worth the risk of STDs or getting a girl pregnant. It’s just the responsible thing to do.

#5. If a condom breaks or you get a foreign girl pregnant somehow I would hope that you do the responsible thing. If there is one bright side to a situation like this, it’s that fathering a child abroad would probably be much much cheaper then fathering a child in the U.S. or Canada, etc.

#6. When in doubt, act with Integrity. Foreign women are the sweetest most feminine creatures on this planet, they deserve to be treated with honesty, kindness, and respect. Let’s give them the best we have to offer. If any women deserve this treatment it’s definitely them!

I personally don’t know whether the guy asking the question just had a bad “break” with a condom or what, but for those of you wondering what the consequences might be, I did a bit of research and came up with this answer:

If you have a child support assessment or court order or child maintenance order from an overseas country that has an agreement with your country of residence (I’m assuming it’s the U.S.), the overseas authority can request the U.S. Child Support Agency to collect the child support from you. Now I’m not a lawyer, so I would suggest getting professional legal advice to get the definitive answer.

Foreign Women Only Want Your Money

There are many ways to dubunk the myth that foreign women only treat you well for your money or to get ticket out the country. While gold-diggers and scammers do exist, they are in a very tiny minority. Foreign women don’t reserve this special treatment, just for you. They treat their local men, just as good as they will treat you. So it’s not just about the money as you will soon find out.

One of the biggest myths out there about foreign women is that they’re all looking for a ticket out of their country, and they all want your money and a green card. There are many ways to disprove this point of view but today I want to focus on just one of those ways.

First of all, I’d like to say that there are gold diggers out there and there are women who may be looking for a ticket out. So, I would suggest getting to know the person as thoroughly as possible and getting my book “The Global Dating Revolution”, which will give you everything you need to know so that you don’t get snagged by a scammer. But the reality is that scammers are everywhere these days, and it’s a fact of life no matter where you go or what you do.

The good news is that scammers make a very small percentage of foreign women, and most foreign women are nice, decent girls who just want to find the right guy.
By now you must know that one of my biggest points is that foreign women are they way they are because of the environment they live in. It’s an environment that totally favors men, whereas the environment YOU live in favors women.

When you go into a foreign girls home turf, you enter a complete role reversal from what you are use to where you live back at home. Back at home, you’ve always had to fight for the girl and fight to keep her, and it’s always been an uphill battle. You may never have noticed this, because you’ve never lived in a place like the Philippines, or Colombia, so you never had a point of reference. Now, if you’ve already traveled you’ve probably started to notice this role reversal on your travels, and you might have an idea of what I’m talking about.

So, what I want to do, is challenge you right now. I want you to go out into your neighborhood, or find someone in your job or in your social circle who is from one of these regions. I want you to find someone who basically grew up and has lived in Costa Rica, Colombia, Brazil, Philippines, Thailand, Ukraine, Russia, or any of the other countries located in those regions. And what I want you to do is talk to that person and ask them how the dating scene is back in their homeland. Maybe take them out for a beer and if it’s a guy, ask the dude, so how are the women back in your country?

I can put money, a lot of money that if you talk to a guy from another country, the guy will probably confirm that back in his country, the women are more attractive, friendlier and more accessible. And you can talk to any Colombian guy, Brazilian guy, Filipino guy, Russian guy, they will say the same thing. When it comes to women, you can’t beat their homeland.

But here is the funny thing. If you happen to meet a woman from these regions and you ask them the same thing. Most of these women will have an opposite view. They find that they like the dating scene, and the men of here a lot more then back at home.

Don’t take my word for it. Do some research of your own. Talk to people that have traveled extensively, people that are from the regions that I describe in my material, and find out for your self.

So what’s my point in all of this? What I want to show you is that any man that comes from let’s say Costa Rica, will tell you that when he was in Costa Rica, he had a great time with women. He was in control. If he wanted flings, he had them. If he wanted something long term he had that too. Same goes for guys in Brazil and guys in Argentina, etc. Even better, when you travel, talk to some of the local Brazilian guys who still live down there, and they will confirm the same sentiment.

So my point is that all of the men down there have a great life, as far as women are concerned. This is all due to the fact that they happen to live in a place that offers them great advantages over the opposite sex. So if all of the Brazilian guys are doing great with women, and you step into the mix in Brazil, why wouldn’t you do good? If a regular Brazilian guy has success down there? Then why does everyone, attribute your success to gold digging? Aren’t you a man also?

My point is that all of the men down there enjoy these environmental advantages and the main reason that foreign women will be more open and friendly to you is because when you step into that environment, you automatically enjoy the same advantages that all of the other Latin American, Eastern European, and South East Asian men share.

Now the icing on the cake, is that as a man who speaks English, and traveling from an economically advanced nation, you will enjoy a positive perception from the women because of your culture, your native language, and where your coming from. This is just the added bonus, on top of the other advantages you will already have in your favor.

13 Steps To A Safe Trip

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been getting all sorts of questions by guys who are about to travel, or thinking about setting up a trip. One of the most common questions, involves safety. Everyone has heard stories about Pablo Escobar and the “guerillas” in Colombia, or the “favelas” in Brazil.

Part of the problem, is that the media only tends to cover the negatives, never giving credit to the positives. I am not sure why the negative stories always seem to reach the international news.

I’ve lived many years close to New York City and Newark NJ, and there was plenty of crime around this area. What city, does not have crime?

My father was robbed at gun point in Bergen County New Jersey. I’ve been assaulted in the streets of Bergen County as well. People get shot almost weekly in the Newark NJ. My point… Anywhere you go, even the city near where you live, has places where you are more likely to be involved in a violent crime.

Having said this, you should always prepare as much as possible for a safe trip. My rule of thumb is to keep everything low key, and try to fly under the radar, especially if you’re very new to traveling abroad. Once you get your stripes, visit a few different countries, get fluent in the customs, the currency and language, then you can start to dress a bit more flashy, but personally I never overdue it…

I’ve been traveling for years now and I’ve never had a problem. I think I can attribute this to the fact that I always like to play it safe.

So, I’ve made a short list of the top thirteen things you can do to have the safest trip possible. Some of these steps may seem a little paranoid, but I think you’ll be better off playing it safe, especially if you’re not a veteran traveler. I’d also like to say that the degree to which you need the 13 steps below really depends on where you’re headed. I haven’t made this list for any particular city, but more as an overall checklist for your safety. Some places are more dangerous then others, so the degree to which you follow these safety tips really depends on where your going. It may even vary depending on which section of a city (or country) you may be going to. Just keep in mind that I always try to error on the side of being extra safe. So here we go, and have a safe trip…

#1 – Do your research and ask questions. There are many sites you can visit that can help you learn more about the place you’re headed to. Some of these sites include, wikipedia.com, poorbuthappy.com, bootsnall.com and lonelyplanet.com. Feel free to shoot me an email if you have concerns.

#2 – Try to go with a group. I know many of you are headed out on your own. I’ve gone on many trips on my own, but there’s always safety in numbers. Try to go with one or two other people.

#3 – Try to learn the language before you go. Nothing makes you stand out more in a foreign land, then not knowing the local language. Even a little conversational knowledge will go a long way. Knowing the language makes you seem like a seasoned traveler.

#4 – Feel out your new surroundings. Remember that you are going to someplace you’ve never been before, and there may be areas that are safe, and areas that are not so safe. So always be alert and cautious while you get to know your new surroundings.

#5 – Don’t be flashy. Lave the IPODs, earrings, jewelry, fancy watches, and Iphones at home, or in the hotel room. Be cautions about where you pull these things out and what you carry on you. I try to be as low key as possible, especially when I’m in a place I’m not familiar with. I generally don’t like to be too flashy, even if I’m in a safe place.

#6 – Travel with the locals. If you’ve already made friends on the Internet, they will look out for you. No one knows the local city better then the people who live there. Try to make some friends online before you go, or meet some locals once you get there. Let the locals guide you safely through your trip.

#7 – Be cautions at night. I generally don’t like to walk around at night. For the most part I stick to taking taxis to and from wherever I’m headed if it’s already late.

#8 – Hail a taxi off the street as your last resort. Have your hotel, club, bar, or friend call you a taxi. Although the taxi’s on the street are generally
safe, you never know, so I always try to get my establishment to call me the taxi. They know who to call and who the good guys are.

#9 – Don’t cary around too much cash, and stash it in different places. In the event you do get robbed, don’t try to fight. Just give them the stash in your back pocket. Thieves will almost never hurt you if you cooperate. So, although I’ve never been robbed, if I found myself in that situation I would give them everything they wanted right away. I usually keep a little stash in my shoe or sock, or some other pocket.

#10 – Cary around a photocopy of your passport and license. Leave the real thing in the lock box at your hotel, or in a safe place along with the rest of your valuables. But always try to remember to carry the copies, in case you run into trouble with the local law enforcement.

#11 – Don’t leave drinks unattended. I’ve had instances in local bars around here in New York where my dates drinks have been roofied. Make sure you keep a close eye on your drinks, especially if your on your own. I try not to drink too much in general, especially when I’m in a place I’ve never been before.

#12 – Don’t bring too much attention to yourself. I personally like to fly under the radar as much as possible. I try not to bee to loud or make a scene.

#13 – MOST, IMPORTANTLY HAVE FUN. Remember guys, It’s better to be overly cautious until you get use to your new surroundings. But most importantly, remember that you are in an environment that favors men. These foreign women love guys like you, and they will show you a great time.
